Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry
Hello! We are Madison and Erika, and we are hear to inform you of the novel Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry, by Mildred D. Taylor. Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry is a children's novel set in 1933 in Mississippi, during the Great Depression. It focuses on the African American Logan family, more specifically, the Logan children-- Cassie, Stacey, Little Man (Clayton Chester), and Christopher John. These children embark on their journey of life, struggling with the burdens of segregation while growing up in the 1930s, a poverty stricken time period. Although they were set in the Northern states, they had to battle against the injustices that came with being black. Throughout the plot of Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry, the Logan children wind their way through life while getting in trouble with their ill-tempered teacher, planning and pursuing revenge on their fellow classmates, exploring, learning life-long lessons, and adjusting to life in 1933.
